If I go to the same restaurant more than once, in a month, it means I really love the food there! I was in Kuala Lumpur for six days and I went twice to Yeast Bistronomy. This cosy French bistro transported me to Paris where you will find the finest breads and pastries displayed on wooden racks in the morning. Yeast is located on Jalan Telawi 2, in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur in a shop house and serves French food.
On both occasions I had breakfast and bought few croissants back to the apartment where I was staying. On the last day of my stay in Kuala Lumpur, I made the taxi driver wait for me as I went into the restaurant to pick up a few croissants to take back to Singapore.
The croissants at Yeast Bistronomy are the types that had crispy shells with the soft, pillowy, inner folds. The type that I would eat buttered and dunked into coffee. I love them. The Peach Danish had a crisp outer crust and a rich, tender inside. The pastry had a slightly layered interior, but not as light nor quite as flaky as the croissant. The pastry cream was just right in sweetness.
The Le Steak and Egg breakfast platter came with a 90 g grilled Angus strip loin, warm potatoes and caramelized onions, two sunny side up eggs, a few rocket leaves and toasted bread. The steak was well done though I had asked for medium rare. Though the platter looked attractive, I was not fascinated by the taste – they are all simple to cook ingredients but the eating experience for this did not give me a “wow” feeling.
The staff at Yeast are attentive and know the menu well. It is nice to seat on the outside of the restaurant in the morning.
