I stayed in the I Portici Hotel in Bologna. This hotel certainly gave a pleasant break from the rest of the historical buildings in Bologna. Some parts of the hotel are undergoing some renovation but this did not affect my pleasant stay.
Set in a restored late 19th-century building, this hotel is a 15-minute walk from the medieval structures at Piazza Maggiore and a 15-minute walk from the 12th-century Towers of Bologna. It is only 5 minutes from the train station and 8 minutes from the centre of the city and therefore the hotel is the perfect starting point for any outing. The hotel is in the centre of the shopping district just a short stroll to lots of restaurants.
The room is decently big and the bathroom huge with lots of designer toiletries and powerful rainfall shower. The room had marble flooring and art nouveau frescoes. Each room had the usual flat-screen TVs, minibars and tea and coffeemakers. In the evenings the staff light up a candle and leave exquisite hand-made chocolate for turn down service.
The hotel boasts of the I Portici Restaurant. This is the highest rated restaurant in Bologna according to the Michelin Guide, and just short of a star rating. The service in the hotel is excellent by very attentive, friendly and helpful staff.
My hotel three-day stay was sponsored by I Portici Hotel.
